Established in 1539, Chester is the world’s oldest operational racecourse - verified in 2019 by Guinness World Records - and has continued to provide iconic and unforgettable race days to avid racegoers. The racecourse has consistently been awarded the ‘Gold Standard Award’ by the Racehorse Owners Association (ROA) since the award’s inception and was awarded the prestigious title of ‘Large Racecourse of the Year’ when the award was launched in 2015 and again in 2018 and 2019. Some of the most historic races are held at Chester including the Chester Cup, the Chester Vase, the Ormonde Stakes, the Cheshire Oaks, and the Dee Stakes.
