Luca's Gelato scoops national award in first year

A Chester gelateria has marked its first year in the business with a national award.

Luca’s Gelato, located in Faulkner Street, received the best newcomer award in the vanilla category at The Ice Cream Alliance event last night (Wednesday, March 26).

Being a staple flavour, the ice cream parlour fought off tough competition, claiming the prize for their Madagascan Vanilla.

They also placed third for their Strawberry Trifle flavour in the open category.

After coming to a crossroads in his life around five years ago, Aaron was encouraged to open his own gelateria by his good friend Luca, who runs his own gelateria in Tuscany.

“We opened the shop last Easter, and we never stopped all year,” said Aaron.

“The people of Hoole and Chester have really welcomed us to the area and have really appreciated having an artisan gelateria in the heart of their neighbourhood.”

“We are constantly striving to improve the quality of our Gelato and this award goes some way to making all the hard work worthwhile.”
